Cross Country Dominates Woodbridge Invitational
The Varsity Cross Country team had a victorious race with multiple seasonal personal records at the Woodbridge Invitational. The girls’ team won the Girls B Varsity race Friday night, beating highly-ranked Big Bear by 30 seconds.
Senior Olivia Paez finished with a time of 18:01, setting one of many seasonal personal records.
Not far behind of Paez, Junior Morgan Rust stayed in contact with her completing the course with 18:05, another seasonal personal record.
The girls continue to train hard as they keep a close eye on La Canada as CIF Finals approaches. “Eyes on La Cañada every chance we get!” Coach Daniel Lodolo said.
As for the boys, Junior James Leon continued the night of personal records with a 15:43, which was a key factor to Friday’s victory.
However, Senior Isaiah Hernandez did not let an injury keep him from completing the race with 15:45.
The boys team look to pass Harvard Westlake as they compete at nearly the same level.
Both teams look forward to their league race this Wednesday at Hollydale Regional Park, Southgate on September 19.
