Overview: Bishop Amat lost eleven players from last years team who have gone on to play college football and this year the team returns just four starters. The Lancers are young and inexperienced and playing in the Mission League means that every week they’re facing a tough opponent. The non-league schedule is just as tough and, according to MaxPreps, the Lancers play six of the top 25 Southern California teams.

Coach Steve Hagerty said the schedule is tough, but the coaching staff has been preparing this team all summer. Hagerty said the team is ready for the upcoming season and expects nothing less than a deep playoff run.

Coming off a heartbreaking loss in the CIF-SS semifinals, the Lancers know that in order to get back there they must trust in the coaches and give nothing less than 100 percent, junior running back Dominic Barrera. That means one more rep in the weight room and studying more film.

This team may not have the superstars in Tyler Vaughns and Trevon Sidney but they believe in out working the opponent and playing for each other, new starting quarterback Jacob Amaro said.

The Lancers are solid on the defensive line with Aaron Maldonaldo and Alec Sanchez returning.

There are many new faces in other positions but these players have been waiting for this opportunity since there freshmen year. At quarterback Amaro is the starter and played exceptionally well in the little playing time he got last season.
