POMONA, CALIFORNIA- San Diego natives Pierce the Veil kicked off their headlining Collide with the Sky Tour along with Sleeping with Sirens, Tonight Alive, and Hands Like Houses to a sold out show at The Glasshouse this past Friday.
Australian bands Hands Like Houses and Tonight Alive opened the show leaving the crowd excited for the rest of the night and wanting more. Then one of the genre’s favorite front men, Kellin Quinn, commanded the stage along with his band Sleeping with Sirens as fans sang along to every song and jumped to every beat.
After an extra-long set change, Pierce the Veil opened in darkness with their eerie song “May These Noises Startle You in Your Sleep.” The crowd tightened and screamed piercing screams as the lead singer, Vic Fuentes, appeared center stage.
Although Pierce the Veil has played many tours before, the Collide with the Sky Tour stood out in comparison. Because the band played songs off of their new album with a theme of loneliness and being able to thrive even after coming from broken homes, fans were able to sing along with a greater passion than from previous tours.
Fuentes left fans feeling loved and accepted with his heartwarming speech of using music as an escape from harsh realities. Energy of the members reflected onto the crowd throughout the whole night and there was not a still person in the room after playing their more well-known songs “Caraphernelia,” “Bulletproof Love,” and their most recent single which features Kellin Quinn “King for a Day”.
I strongly recommend going to see Pierce the Veil live for a performance to remember. The quartet will be on tour until the end of November. Los Angeles residents will have the opportunity to see them again at The Wiltern on November 21, 2012.
