Bishop Amat’s ASB will host the first dance of the year before the football game against Culver City today.
For the freshman, sophomores and juniors this is the first time they are going to experience a pre-game dance. ASB canceled the dance during the class of 2013’s freshman year because not enough students went.
Under requests by the students the dance has returned.
“The students requested more free dances other than the ones we have now where it does not involve couples and a dance where the students can be with their friends,” said Mrs. Kristen Nass, the ASB moderator.
ASB officers said they hope students have a memorable experience and it would lead to more dances like this in the future.
“This dance is meant to be memorable for the seniors’ last year, but hopefully a great new experience for the freshman, sophomores and juniors,” said ASB President Tochi Nwosu.
However, attendance is a concern for the ASB officers.
“I hope everyone will participate and show up because we need more dances like these for the student body,” Nwosu said. “I know I’m going.”
ASB is hoping that with low ticket prices, food and entertainment, Lancers will be more excited to go.
“I can’t wait for the free food, music and the fact that it’s free makes it even better,” said junior Natalia Estrada.
There was also curiosity coming from the Lancers.
“Honestly i’m kind of nervous to see how it’s going to turn out but if I’m with my friends it should be fun,” said sophomore Elizabeth Guzman.
Even with concerns there is definitely some excitement being portrayed from the students.
“I’m ready to dance with my friends and have a good time, I think we needed something like this,” Estrada said.
