The Bishop Amat Stunt Team members are ready to fly in their first ever season as a CIF sport in Spring 2025, proving once and for all that cheer is a sport.
Bishop Amat is starting its first-ever stunt team. While the girls’ flag football team begins next year, the stunt team is making history right now. This new sport brings excitement, teamwork, and competition to the school.
Stunt is a competitive sport that comes from cheerleading. Unlike regular cheer, it focuses only on skills and routines, not crowd-leading or chants. It is fast-paced and requires strength, balance, and perfect timing.
Each competition has four parts.
Partner Stunts test strength and balance, while pyramids and tosses show teamwork.
Jumps and tumbling highlight speed and power, and the Team Routine puts everything together in one big performance. Every team must be well-practiced because even a small mistake can affect the score.
Judges score teams on how well they perform their routines. Execution, synchronization, and difficulty all matter. Every move is important, and one mistake can change the results.
“The team is eager to showcase their hard work and introduce this growing sport to the school,” senior flyer Grace Tran said.
Other team members are excited to showcase their talent for their classmates.
“I’m excited for Stunt to be coming to Amat,” Sophomore side base Gabriela Corsitino said. “I think the team will do great and I’m looking forward to seeing how we improve throughout the season.”
With hard work and dedication, the Bishop Amat stunt team is ready to shine.
“Everyone always talks about how strong guys are, but we’re showing that girls are strong too,” Tran said.
