The effort that goes into putting together the ASB assemblies is one often overlooked. But,
several moving pieces, responsible members, and valuable student input come together to put on a great show.
In the lunchtime before a rally takes place the magic begins. This is where each part joins together and begin practicing.
“We start prepping rallies about a month out to three weeks, planning out games and figuring out how to incorporate them into the actual rallies,” ASB moderator Mrs. Seman said.
The set-up involved is grand, with groups such as dance, pep-squad, and dynamics all under the supervision and schedule created by ASB.
To efficiently prepare themselves for the rally, this schedule is thoroughly read through by the officers alongside their lines and introductions.
“I’m writing about basically the script of what I’m going to say when I’m calling out the teachers for the student faculty basketball game so that I can put on a good show,” senior class officer Daniel Barreras said.
Lighting is experimented with, sound is tested, and a run through of all activities takes place. It’s not easy, and it can become overwhelming really fast.
Even when the rallies are finished, ASB’s job is never over. It involves a lot of responsibility and time to clean up after everyone has left.
“Just because we finished the Alma Mater, does not mean ASB is finished” senior Melia Romero said. “We have to set up and make sure the gym is perfect for our next rally.”
But, through the teamwork of ASB and the effective leadership of Mrs. Seman and Mrs.
Leeman, the rallies are nothing short of extraordinary.
